Biography

Benjamin Bratt is an American actor who began in theater at the Utah Shakespeare Festival in 1987, playing supporting parts in Richard III, The Comedy of Errors and Much Ado About Nothing. He left the American Conservatory Theater's MFA program before finishing to take the lead in the 1988 TV movie Juarez, then worked steadily in television. His film breakthrough came as Paco Aguilar in Blood In, Blood Out (1993), followed by Officer Alfredo Garcia in Demolition Man (1993). He had supporting roles in Clear and Present Danger (1994) and The River Wild (1994). From 1995 to 1999 he starred as Detective Rey Curtis on Law & Order, earning an Emmy nomination. Later credits include Traffic, Piñero and Catwoman, along with Miss Congeniality, Trucker and Snitch. He has voiced roles in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Despicable Me 2 and Coco, and appeared on television in Private Practice, 24: Live Another Day, Star and Andor.
