Plot summary
Hedare Beauty is about to launch Beau-line, a cream that reverses the effects of aging, and graphic designer Patience Phillips works on its advertising. She brings a revised ad design to the research laboratory and overhears scientist Dr. Ivan Slavicky and Laurel Hedare, the wife of the company's owner, George Hedare, discussing the cream's dangerous side effects. Guards discover her, and she is left for dead, then washes up on shore. There Midnight, an Egyptian Mau that had turned up at her apartment, brings her back, and Patience gains cat-like abilities. The cat's owner, Ophelia Powers, explains that an Egyptian Mau acts as a messenger for the goddess Bast. Patience takes on the guise of the vigilante Catwoman, and detective Tom Lone is drawn to both of her personas.

- Halle Berry accepted the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress in person at the 25th Golden Raspberry Awards, taking the stage carrying her Academy Award for Monster's Ball and calling Catwoman a "god-awful movie" in a self-deprecating speech.
- Writer John Rogers said he was fired during filming of Catwoman after arguments with the producers, saying "nobody in power knew what movie they wanted."
- Catwoman sat in development hell for years with Ashley Judd as the lead in 2001; she dropped out and Nicole Kidman was considered, and Warner Bros. fast-tracked the film with Halle Berry when a Batman vs. Superman film was canceled.
- Reshoots on Catwoman ran as late as June 2004, a month before release, because early cuts had confusing dialogue and awkward transitions; new scenes included a darker, open-ended ending replacing a "romantic comedy"-style one.
