Biography

Raymond Cruz is an American actor who grew up in East Los Angeles and studied at East Los Angeles College, where he was drawn into theater. His early film roles included sniper Ding Chavez in Clear and Present Danger (1994), Ramirez in Under Siege (1992), Joey Six in The Substitute (1996), and Chuey in Blood In, Blood Out (1993). He also appeared as Private Vincent DiStephano in Alien Resurrection (1997) and as a gang member named Sniper in Training Day (2001). On television he played Detective Julio Sanchez through the entire runs of The Closer and its spin-off Major Crimes, and he is best known for playing the drug lord Tuco Salamanca in Breaking Bad, a part he reprised in Better Call Saul. He portrayed the exorcist Rafael Olvera in The Curse of La Llorona (2019).
