Plot summary
College student Jason Collins lets his friend Craig have a drug shipment sent to his house in Missouri, and DEA agents who follow the package arrest him. The charge carries a minimum of ten years, and Jason refuses to name friends to shorten it. His estranged father, construction company owner John Matthews, hears about the arrest from his ex-wife Sylvie. John asks United States Attorney Joanne Keeghan, who is campaigning against drugs, to reduce his son's sentence. She agrees if John informs on a dealer, and Agent Cooper's task force will watch the deals. John finds employee Daniel James, who has two prior distribution convictions, and offers him $20,000 to make an introduction. Daniel agrees, not knowing that John is an informant.
