Biography
Roger Moore was an English actor who became the third actor to portray James Bond in the Eon Productions series, a role he took on in seven films. Born in Stockwell, London, in 1927, he found international stardom as Simon Templar in The Saint from 1962 to 1969. He also played Beau Maverick in Maverick and starred with Tony Curtis in The Persuaders! His Bond films included Live and Let Die (1973), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), Octopussy (1983), and A View to a Kill (1985). Beyond Bond, his screen work ranged from The Wild Geese (1978) and The Sea Wolves (1980) to The Cannonball Run (1981) and Boat Trip (2002). He was knighted in 2003 and received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2007. Moore died in 2017.

Moore said his first television appearance came on 27 March 1949, in a live broadcast of The Governess by Patrick Hamilton, where he took the minor part of Bob Drew.

The Saint ran for six series and 118 episodes starting in 1962. Moore later directed nine episodes of the series, which moved into color in 1967.
