Biography

David Niven was an English actor who appeared as an extra in a British film before leaving the army. Born in London, he attended Sandhurst and served in the Highland Light Infantry before resigning in 1933 and moving to Hollywood. After the Second World War he starred in A Matter of Life and Death (1946), The Bishop's Wife (1947), and Around the World in 80 Days (1956). He won an Academy Award for Best Actor for Separate Tables (1958) and a Golden Globe for The Moon Is Blue (1953). He played Sir Charles Lytton in The Pink Panther (1963) and James Bond in Casino Royale (1967), and later appeared in Murder by Death (1976) and Death on the Nile (1978).
