Maud Adams

Biography

Maud Adams is a Swedish actress and model known for playing two different Bond girls, in The Man with the Golden Gun and as the title character in Octopussy. Born in Luleå, Sweden, she began modeling when a photographer spotted her in a shop in 1963 and put her photo in the Miss Sweden contest run by Allers. She later moved to Paris and New York, working with Eileen Ford. Her screen debut was The Boys in the Band (1970), where she appeared as a model in the opening credits, and she guest-starred on Hawaii Five-O and Kojak. Playing Francisco Scaramanga's mistress in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) brought her international attention. Rollerball (1975), several European films, and the thriller Tattoo followed. Bond producer Albert Broccoli respected her enough to bring her back for Octopussy (1983), where she played the smuggler Octopussy opposite Roger Moore. She also served as president of Scandinavian Biocosmetics.
