Plot summary
Their mother, Carolyn, is supposed to collect Tracy and Jay Osborne from school at the start of the Easter holidays, but she is in Hong Kong, so the vacation has been arranged with their grandfather, Los Angeles billionaire J.W. Osborne. During the flight Jay loses track of his pet skunk, Duster, and in the panic the children leave the airport by taxi. Two safecrackers, Duke and Bert, share the cab after a job at the airport and their own car is towed. Duke wants rid of them; Tracy's play acting wins him over, and he lets them stay the night. Needing money for a trip to Hong Kong, Tracy writes a ransom note for the children themselves and asks Duke and Bert to help collect it.
