Biography
Al Pacino is an American actor who was born in Manhattan and trained at HB Studio and the Actors Studio under Charlie Laughton and Lee Strasberg. He won Tony Awards for Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? and The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel before taking his first film lead in The Panic in Needle Park (1971). He rose to stardom as Michael Corleone in The Godfather (1972), a role he reprised in The Godfather: Part II (1974) and The Godfather: Part III (1990). He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Scent of a Woman (1992) and earned Oscar nominations for ...And Justice for All (1979), Dog Day Afternoon (1975), Serpico (1973), The Irishman (2019), and Glengarry Glen Ross (1992). Other films include Scarface (1983), Heat (1995), Donnie Brasco (1997), and The Insider (1999). He won Emmys for Angels in America (2003) and You Don't Know Jack (2010) and directed Looking for Richard (1996).

As a teenager, Pacino was turned down by the Actors Studio, so he went to HB Studio instead. There he could take classes at no cost, paying by cleaning the hallways and dance studios.
