Plot summary
Joe Paterno is 84 and has spent 61 years at Penn State University, where he coached the Nittany Lions, helped build the Paterno Library, and won more games than any other college football coach; a statue of him stands outside Beaver Stadium. In 2005, when the athletic director, Tim Curley, and the university's president, Graham Spanier, asked him to retire, he refused. A grand jury is looking into accusations that Jerry Sandusky, a retired assistant coach, sexually abused children; Curley, Spanier and vice president Gary Schultz are worried about it. Reporter Sara Ganim learns that the presentment also names Curley and Schultz. Sue Paterno and their grown children, among them assistant coach Jay and lawyer Scott, are alarmed by the accusations while he prepares for the Nebraska game.
