Plot summary
An aging man in a small Texas town, A.J. Manglehorn mends locks and cuts keys, and the work is a comfort to him. At home he looks after a sick cat, and he eats at the same restaurant every day. On Fridays he goes to the bank, where he draws out a conversation with Dawn, the teller behind the counter. He is a reclusive man who lost the woman he loved forty years ago. He has never stopped lamenting her. Dawn is kind, and her interest in the eccentric Manglehorn may be what finally brings him out of his shell.
