Plot summary
John Knox works as a contract killer for a crime boss named Jericho. He lives by himself, estranged from his wife and his son Miles, and Annie, a Polish sex worker, comes to see him once a week and shares his love of books. A diagnosis of an aggressive form of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease prompts him to arrange his retirement, but he agrees to carry out one final assignment alongside Thomas Muncie, his partner in the work. After that night his son Miles comes to him and confesses that he killed a man who had raped his daughter, John's granddaughter. John tells Miles to stay quiet with the authorities and goes to the scene to wipe away the evidence. Detective Emily Ikari works the cases, and John calls on Xavier Crane, a former thief, to help secure his family's future.
