Biography

Treat Williams was an American actor whose stage, film, and television career spanned five decades. Born in Stamford, Connecticut, he began in Broadway musicals, playing the lead in Grease in the early 1970s. He moved to film with The Ritz and The Eagle Has Landed before Hair and 1941 made him a star in 1979. His work in Prince of the City (1981) earned strong reviews and a Golden Globe nomination. Later films included Once Upon a Time in America (1984), Smooth Talk (1985), Dead Heat (1988), The Devil's Own (1997), Deep Rising (1998), The Deep End of the Ocean (1999), Miss Congeniality 2 (2005), and 127 Hours (2010). He led Everwood from 2002 to 2006, receiving two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, and appeared in White Collar, Chicago Fire, Blue Bloods, and Chesapeake Shores. His last screen role was Bill Paley in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, bringing a posthumous Emmy nomination.
