Plot summary
Anita Hill teaches law at the University of Oklahoma, and Clarence Thomas is a former employer of hers. When his nomination to the Supreme Court comes before the Senate, committee staff question her about the way he treated the people who worked for him. She appears before the Senate Judiciary Committee and tells the senators that ten years earlier he sexually harassed her and talked to her about pornographic films and actors. Her account leads to a hearing, and a psychologist tells a senator that Hill has erotomania. With the world watching, the committee has to weigh the two claims and establish which one is true.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Confirmation (2016)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Cobie Smulders broke her leg and exited the production, and Zoe Lister-Jones took over her role as Biden aide Harriet Grant, a composite of aides to the senator.
- To give the film a more realistic tone, the filmmakers used actual CNN news footage of United States Senate staff taped during the lead-up to the Clarence Thomas hearings.
- Text in the film's closing credits says Anita Hill's accusation led to more women being elected to public office in 1992, a doubling of official sexual harassment complaints, and passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1991.
