Plot summary
Val Waxman was once a two-time Oscar winner, but he now directs television commercials. After he is fired from a deodorant commercial filmed in the frozen north of Canada, he hunts for a real film project, and his agent Al Hack pushes him to accept an offer: a big-budget picture to be set in New York City. The offer comes from Val's ex-wife, Ellie, who left him for Hal, the studio head financing the film. Val takes the job. Just before production is to begin, a psychosomatic ailment takes his sight, and with Al's help he keeps it hidden from the cast, the crew and Hal.
