John Kapelos
Biography
John Kapelos is a Canadian actor who came out of The Second City in Chicago, where he spent eight years in its touring and resident companies, and later appeared off-Broadway in Orwell That Ends Well. He gained attention in the 1980s for character parts in John Hughes films such as Sixteen Candles, Weird Science (1985) and The Breakfast Club (1985), and he is known for playing the janitor Carl Reed in the last of those and Detective Donald Schanke on the television series Forever Knight. His other films include Roxanne (1987), Nothing in Common (1986) and Internal Affairs (1990), with dramatic turns in the latter and in The Boost, while The Deep End of the Ocean (1999) was praised by The New York Times and by Roger Ebert. On television he has appeared in Miami Vice, Seinfeld, The X-Files, ER, Boston Legal, Justified and Days of Our Lives, and he also teaches improv workshops and manages an independent record label.
