Biography

Lukas Haas is an American actor and musician whose screen career has run four decades and taken in more than 50 features, along with television and stage work. He was born in West Hollywood, California, and a casting director, Margery Simkin, spotted him in kindergarten when he was five. His first screen part came as a child in Testament (1983), and Witness (1985) brought him wider notice; critics responded well to his performance as an Amish boy who witnesses a murder. Solarbabies (1986) and Lady in White (1988) followed, and Music Box (1989) earned him a Young Artist Award nomination. He also received an Emmy nomination for playing Ryan White in a television film. Later credits include Mars Attacks! (1996), Brick (2005), Inception (2010), The Revenant (2015) and First Man (2018), where he played astronaut Michael Collins. On stage he appeared in Waiting for Godot at Lincoln Center, and he drums and plays piano for The Rogues.
