Plot summary
Willowpoint Falls, Halloween 1962. Schoolmates Donald and Louie lock nine-year-old Frankie Scarlatti in the school coatroom as a prank. Trapped after dark, he watches the apparition of a girl being killed in the room, and when a man enters and finds him, Frankie is strangled into unconsciousness. His father Angelo revives him, and the police arrest Harold Williams, the janitor found drunk in the basement. Recovering at home, Frankie reads that the attack is tied to a decade of child murders, and that the ghost is Melissa Anne Montgomery, one of the victims. She appears to him and asks him to find her mother. Back in the coatroom, Frankie pries open a vent grate and finds a stash of children's belongings, including a hair clip and a class ring.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The film was financed entirely through a penny stock offering. LaLoggia and his cousin Charles M. LaLoggia set up a public company, New Sky Communications, traded on NASDAQ at 10 cents a share, which secured $4.7 million from 4,000 investors after a 7-minute promotional reel. It was the only occasion a single feature was financed this way.
- LaLoggia partly based the screenplay on The Lady in White legend, about a woman who supposedly searches for her lost daughter in Durand-Eastman Park in Rochester, New York, which is LaLoggia's hometown.
- Frank and Charles LaLoggia meticulously storyboarded every scene before the shoot, which let them forgo a standard practice like a completion bond insuring against budget overages.
