Plot summary
In 1974 Steve Jobs drops out of Reed College because he cannot pay the tuition. Dean Jack Dudman lets him sit in on classes. Two years later he returns to his adoptive parents Paul and Clara in Los Altos, California, and writes video games for Atari. His boss Al Alcorn asks him to rework the arcade game Breakout, and Jobs has Steve Wozniak build it instead. Wozniak makes a prototype of the Apple I, a personal home computer, and the two name their new company Apple Computer.

- Steve Wozniak was given an early script for Jobs, read as far as he could stomach it, and called it crap; he then went with Sony's rival Steve Jobs film instead because you can't do both and be paid.
- Mike Markkula had such a bad reaction to the first draft of the screenplay, sent to him for feedback, that he would have nothing more to do with the project; by the fourth draft it was okay.
- Cinematographer Aseem Bajaj shot the India scenes guerrilla style in the by-lanes of Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi, with multiple cameras over two days near the Red Fort and Jama Masjid; Ashton Kutcher stood frozen with the chaos in his face, which helped capture what Steve Jobs must have felt there.
