Biography

John Cho is an American actor whose career has moved from small comic parts to lead roles. Born in Seoul and raised in Los Angeles, he first drew notice guest-starring on Charmed. A bit part as the MILF guy in American Pie (1999) brought returns in American Pie 2, American Wedding, and American Reunion, followed by a starring role in the drama Better Luck Tomorrow (2002). He became known as Harold Lee in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004), reprising the part in Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008) and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (2011), and played Hikaru Sulu in Star Trek (2009). He later led the sitcom Selfie, the first U.S. comedy series to cast an Asian American man as its romantic lead, and the thriller Searching (2018), which brought him an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Male Lead.
