Plot summary

Latif, a hitman with a military past, carries out jobs for security specialist Mike Mahmoudi and has just completed one in St. Louis. His daughter Fatiha calls with news that his wife Khadijah has died, and he returns to Houston for the funeral. There he is left raising Fatiha, his son Qadir and the baby Aziza, and grief shakes his observance. The family's stored breast milk is nearly gone and Aziza cannot digest formula. At the mosque, Latif asks about a donation and meets Mike and Mike's nephew Hatty, whose business is a porn studio with a Muslim theme. Mike warns that Hwan Yoon, a Charismatic Christian leader, means to kill Hatty over that studio, and tells Latif to get to Hwan first.
