Plot summary

John Kim works at a Manhattan law firm and wants to rise through its ranks. He takes on a pro bono case for the Lee family: Kevin Lee, fourteen, stands accused of murdering Chun Jin-ho, a Korean mobster who ran a room salon in Koreatown as a money launderer. Kevin's older sister, Lila Lee, is still in shock over the charge. While investigating, Kim meets Mike Juhn, a street thug from Flushing who has taken over the salon and answers to Detective Park, a cop on the mob's payroll. Juhn sees in Kim a route to legitimate business, and Kim sees in Juhn a way into the case. The two begin working together, each with his own ambitions.
