Plot summary
Nurse Fiona Landers leaves a job in Tokyo and returns to her husband Sam and their daughter Melinda in a small Pennsylvania town. Real estate agents Peter and Nina Spencer, expecting a child, learn the baby will likely be born with the genetic disorder ALD, and Peter goes to look at a property on Reyburn Drive. Detectives Goodman and Wilson investigate deaths tied to that house, where a mother killed her family. In 2005 Faith Matheson, who has dementia, moves into the house with her husband William, who calls in Lorna Moody, an assisted suicide consultant. In 2006 rookie detective Muldoon, new in town with her son Burke, and her partner Goodman connect a body found in the woods to the house.
