Plot summary
Jin Lee, who translates literature into English in South Korea, travels to Columbus, Indiana, after his father Jae Yong Lee, an acclaimed architecture professor, falls into a coma during a visit to give a lecture. In Columbus, Jin meets Casey, a recent high school graduate who works at a nearby library and looks after her mother, Maria, a recovering drug addict. Casey shows Jin around the city and its modernist buildings, and the two talk about their lives. Jin speaks of his resentment toward a father he believes cared more about work than about him. Casey describes her wish to work in architecture, which she has set aside to stay with her mother.
