Plot summary
An oath of loyalty to the President, not to the government, divides the country, and the deadline for signing it is Black Friday. Chris lives in the suburbs with Kai and their young daughter, and the oath unsettles him. As the holiday nears, the couple hosts Thanksgiving dinner for their extended family. Chris promised his mother he would keep politics out of the holiday, yet he slips away whenever he can to watch the news. His brother Pat and Pat's girlfriend Abbie, whose political views clash, keep needling him while Kai tries to keep him calm. Chris also hears how the country is fraying as the deadline approaches, and finds that his relatives, Kai among them, have all signed. On Black Friday, two agents, Mason and Peter, arrive to question him.
