Biography

Dennis Haysbert is an American actor and voice actor who has worked in film and television since 1978. He is known for playing President David Palmer on 24 and Pedro Cerrano in the Major League trilogy. Born in San Mateo, California, he studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts after turning down athletic scholarships. His first major film role was Pedro Cerrano in Major League (1989), and his later films include Heat (1995), Absolute Power (1997), Far from Heaven (2002), Jarhead (2005), and Wreck-It Ralph (2012). For his supporting role in Far from Heaven, he won a Satellite Award, a Black Reel Award, and a Washington DC Area Film Critics Association Award. On television he played Sergeant Major Jonas Blane on The Unit and God on Lucifer, and for his work on 24 he earned Golden Globe and Golden Satellite Award nominations. He also voiced Kilowog for Justice League and appeared on Broadway in David Mamet's Race.
