Plot summary
Chase Carter is an investigative reporter whose footage of General Lyons's crimes never reaches the public. His boss refuses to air it for fear of the military. Agents come for Chase, and he gets away. George Hancock, a whistleblower, then pushes Chase and his crew to enter East Mission City, a quarantined zone overrun by the infected, on a rescue mission. Hacker Sandra Lowe, Chase's on-and-off girlfriend, joins the effort to stop the general's plan. News producer Jill Eikland signs on as the group plots to infiltrate a secret laboratory. Susan Ingot runs Phenotrans, maker of Zombrex, the vaccine that holds the infection back. Dr. Leon Rand, brought in to find a cure, instead experiments on the infected, and the results are faster, stronger zombies.
