Will Wright
Biography
Will Wright was an American actor who worked as a newspaperman and in vaudeville before turning to the stage and radio, where he appeared in more than 5,000 programs. Born in San Francisco, he broke into films in 1940 with Blondie Plays Cupid, and in 1942 he voiced Friend Owl in Walt Disney's Bambi (1942). He played Dolph Pillsbury in the Academy Award-winning All the King's Men (1949) and appeared in Gunman's Walk (1958). Cast regularly as a curmudgeonly old man, he also worked steadily in television, with recurring roles on Bat Masterson and Dennis the Menace from 1959 to 1961, three guest performances on Perry Mason, and department store owner Ben Weaver on The Andy Griffith Show. His last screen appearance came on Bonanza in 1962, the year he died.
