Plot summary
The Allies launch Operation Market Garden, dropping British troops behind German lines in occupied Holland in an attempt to end the war by Christmas. Among them is a small unit code-named Matchbox, whose real task is to recover a cache of Dutch gold and artwork the Nazis have plundered and stored in a bunker in Arnhem that is rigged with traps. German fire hits the unit before it reaches its drop zone, leaving the men separated from the invasion. Renegade German soldiers under Lieutenant Jergen Voller are hunting the same treasure, while Dutch resistance fighters Benitta and Saskia have found the loot buried beneath their farm.
