John Krasinski
Biography
John Krasinski is an American actor and filmmaker who broke through as Jim Halpert on the NBC sitcom The Office, a role he played from 2005 to 2013 while also producing and directing some episodes. Born in Newton, Massachusetts, he built a film career with Leatherheads (2008), Away We Go (2009), It's Complicated (2009), Something Borrowed (2011), Promised Land (2012) and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016). He co-wrote, directed and co-starred in the horror thriller A Quiet Place (2018), which led Time to include him among the world's 100 most influential people, and later wrote and directed its sequel A Quiet Place Part II (2021). He starred in and directed The Hollars (2016), wrote, directed and co-starred in IF (2024), played Jack Ryan on Amazon from 2018 to 2023, voiced parts in animated films including Monsters University (2013), and co-created Lip Sync Battle, earning three Emmy nominations.

Early training
Krasinski studied English and playwriting at Brown University, wrote an honors thesis and belonged to the sketch comedy group Out of Bounds.
Behind the award
Krasinski won the Theatre World Award for Outstanding Debut Performance for the Off-Broadway play Dry Powder, which sold out its run before opening.
