As a child, Mike Wazowski tours the Monsters, Inc. factory and slips after scarer Frank McCay into the human world, and is later given a Monsters University cap. Years later he enrolls in the university's scaring program, where Randy Boggs is his roommate and Dean Abigail Hardscrabble warns that anyone who fails the final exam leaves the program. Sulley, the son of a famous scarer, joins the top fraternity, Roar Omega Roar, which turns Mike down. Mike studies hard while Sulley coasts on his family name.
