Biography

Bobby Moynihan is an American comedian and actor who was a writer and cast member on NBC's Saturday Night Live from 2008 to 2017. Raised in Eastchester, New York, he studied fine arts at the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1999, traveled with a Shakespeare company, and trained at the Upright Citizens Brigade. Early work included the Derrick Comedy sketch group and its feature Mystery Team (2009). His voice credits range from Chet Alexander in Monsters University (2013) and Mel in The Secret Life of Pets (2016) and its 2019 sequel to Panda on We Bare Bears (2015 to 2020), Louie Duck on DuckTales (2017 to 2021), and Hal the Dog on Nature Cat (2015 to 2025). He also played Jayden Kwapis on Mr. Mayor and created, wrote, directed, and starred in Loafy. In 2025 he received a Children's & Family Emmy nomination for preschool voice performance.

    After graduating, Moynihan toured with a Shakespeare company, then found Upright Citizens Brigade, where Amy Poehler gave him a bartending job in exchange for free classes. Zach Woods, then 15, was in one of his first classes.
