Biography
Jimmy Fallon is an American comedian, actor, writer and television host whose career began in stand-up and sketch comedy. Born in Brooklyn in 1974 and raised in Saugerties, New York, he moved to Los Angeles at 21 to pursue comedy and performed with the Groundlings. He joined Saturday Night Live in 1998 as a cast member, co-hosted Weekend Update, and stayed for six years before leaving in 2004. He then appeared in films including Almost Famous (2000), Taxi (2004) and Fever Pitch (2005), though Taxi was a flop with critics and audiences and Fever Pitch drew mild reviews. In 2009 he returned to television as host of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where music and games shaped the show. He became The Tonight Show's sixth permanent host in 2014. He has released two comedy albums and seven books, and his honors include four Primetime Emmy Awards plus a Grammy Award.
