Plot summary

In 2012 Benghazi, after the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi, a U.S. diplomatic compound remains open while a nearby CIA annex is guarded by a private security team. Jack Silva arrives as a new member and is met by team leader Rone Woods. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens comes to the city to maintain diplomatic ties and stays at the compound with limited protection from Diplomatic Security agents and a local militia. On September 11, Stevens sees men taking pictures of the compound. That night, militants storm the compound, and the local guards surrender their posts. The ambassador and an IT specialist are trapped in a safe room as attackers set the building on fire. The security team, held back at first by the CIA chief, pushes to mount a rescue.
