Plot summary
Skateboarding moves from Southern California backyards to a worldwide sport over the 1980s, and Mark "Gator" Rogowski becomes one of its leading professionals. He has a signature skateboard and, for a stretch, more coverage in skateboarding magazines and videos than any other rider. His drinking and his depression weigh on him as the decade goes on. Other skateboarders from those years give interviews about the era, and archival footage carries the sport and the culture from punk through the neon years of MTV. Music from bands of the period and an original score accompany the story, and Rogowski gives his own account of his life and career.
