Plot summary
During a charity benefit concert in Paris, a cardboard cutout of Alvin sends Dave Seville flying across the stage, and he is hospitalized. His aunt Jackie is meant to watch Alvin, Simon and Theodore, who are enrolled at West Eastman High School. When Jackie falls down a staircase and is hospitalized as well, the chipmunks come under the care of her grandson Toby, Dave's cousin. Dr. Rubin, the school principal, is a fan and asks them to raise money for the music program through a contest. Ian Hawke, the former label chief who lost the chipmunks, is broke and lives in the company basement. Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor climb out of a FedEx package and sign with him as the Chipettes.
