Plot summary
Dave Seville gives up songwriting to produce records and wants a calmer life for Alvin, Simon and Theodore. The chipmunks throw him a birthday party at their new house, and he takes them mini-golfing, where they meet Samantha, the woman he has been dating. Her son Miles torments them. When the three find a ring in Dave's bag, they believe he will propose to Samantha, which would make Miles their stepbrother. Dave has to produce a record for the pop artist Ashley Grey in Miami and brings Samantha along, leaving the chipmunks and Miles behind. Without enough money, the four decide to go after him.
