Ben Cross
Biography
Ben Cross was an English actor who began in manual jobs before training at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and working in regional theater and with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He first appeared on screen in A Bridge Too Far, then won wide recognition as the athlete Harold Abrahams in Chariots of Fire (1981), a role that brought him and co-star Ian Charleson Variety Club awards for most promising artiste. He originated the role of Billy Flynn in Chicago's original West End run and later took the part of Sarek in Star Trek (2009). His other films included The Hurricane Heist (2018) and Paperhouse (1988). He also wrote and directed stage works and music, and acted in television productions. He died in 2020.

Ben Cross was accepted into London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1970 at the age of 22, though he later showed little interest in the classical arts route.

Cross wrote the lyrics for his first single, which Polydor Records put out in the late 1970s. The song was called "Mickey Moonshine".
