Richard Dillane
Biography
Richard Dillane is an English actor who was born in England in 1964 and grew up near London. He studied philosophy at Manchester University and spent ten years in Australia, working there as a white-water rafting guide as well as an actor and director. His film work includes Peter Nicholls, a British intelligence agent, in Ben Affleck's Oscar-winning thriller Argo (2012), Merv Humphreys in Oranges and Sunshine (2010), and parts in The Jacket (2005), Tristan & Isolde (2006), The Edge of Love (2008), The Dinosaur Project (2012) and Dead in Tombstone (2013). On television he was Wernher von Braun in the docudrama Space Race, the Duke of Suffolk in Wolf Hall in 2015 and DCI Michael Waite in Silent Witness in 2016, and he had a lead role in the Netflix series Young Wallander in 2020. He has also performed with the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company and works regularly in radio and voice-over.
