Bashar Rahal

Biography

Bashar Rahal is a Bulgarian actor who first performed in television sketches as a boy and joined the theater group Tears and Laughs at thirteen, appearing in more than fifteen productions. Born in Dubai and raised in Bulgaria from age six, he got his first major film role in Ivan and Alexandra in 1989. He studied performing arts at the National Academy of Theater and Film Art and joined the National Youth Theater. His popularity grew through the comedy show It Can't Be, which ran for seven seasons and which he helped create while also acting, writing, producing and sometimes directing. After moving to the United States in 1999, he appeared in Bridge of Dragons (1999) and starred in Operation Delta Force 4: Deep Fault (1999). He drew wider attention as Hasdrubal in the BBC production Hannibal (2006) and later appeared in War, Inc. (2008). In 2017 he acted in the Bulgarian series Kato Dve Kapki Voda.

Early training
Bashar began his professional acting career in 1992, when the National Academy of Theater and Film Art accepted him into professor Stefan Danailov's class. There he earned a master's degree in Performing Arts.
