Plot summary
A global rise in demonic possessions leads the Catholic Church to reopen schools where priests learn the Rite of Exorcism. Nuns may not perform exorcisms, but Father Quinn recognizes Sister Ann's empathy with possessed victims and agrees to train her. She attends classes with a fellow student, Father Dante, while some staff resist her and some priests find her amusing. Disturbing visions and memories come to her, and when she is trapped in the room of an elderly possessed patient, he harasses her and dances with her against her will. Ann keeps to her training, searching the school's secret archives with Dante and studying the histories of terminal cases. She believes a young girl, Natalie, is possessed by a demon that once tormented Ann's mother, who was mentally unstable.
