Biography

Robert Keith was an American actor of stage and screen who worked as a character actor in several dozen movies, many of them in the 1950s. He was born in Fowler, Indiana, and died in 1966. In Fourteen Hours (1951) he was a father, and in The Lineup (1958) he played a psychopathic gangster. In The Wild One (1953) he was the police chief and the father of the biker's love interest, and in the musical Guys and Dolls (1955) he was another cop, Brando's antagonist. In Written on the Wind (1956), Douglas Sirk gave him a sizable supporting part. On television he appeared as Richard Kimble's father in The Fugitive and took lead roles in episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Twilight Zone. His last screen work was the Twilight Zone episode The Masks, as Jason Foster, a wealthy New Orleans patriarch. He also played the scientist Garson Lee in a 1954 Motorola Television Hour episode, Atomic Attack.
