Plot summary
Choya is a gunfighter running from the law when Leffingwell and Tattoo catch him in the mountains. They force him into a scheme: he will pass as the son Richard Lavery lost to a kidnapping years ago, and the plan is to take half a million dollars from the rancher. The scheme rests on a tattoo on Choya's shoulder, a mark meant to pass for the birthmark the missing boy had. Choya rides to the Bar O M ranch and asks the foreman, Ransom, for a job. Lavery arrives with his daughter Ruth, and they hire him. Ruth tells him how her five-year-old brother was taken and never found.
