Did you know?!Facts and trivia about My Foolish Heart (1949)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- My Foolish Heart remains the only authorized film adaptation of J. D. Salinger's work; the filmmakers' changes to his short story "Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut" kept Hollywood from ever filming his other works, including The Catcher in the Rye.
- Oscar-winning actress Teresa Wright was lined up for the lead in the Salinger adaptation, but Susan Hayward replaced her at the last minute after the film had been renamed My Foolish Heart.
- The title song, for which Victor Young and Ned Washington were Oscar-nominated and which Martha Mears sang onscreen in a rare film appearance, went on to become a jazz standard.
