Vic Morrow
Biography
Vic Morrow was an American actor, born in the Bronx, whose screen career spanned more than three decades. After training at Mexico City College and Paul Mann's acting workshop, he made his film debut in Blackboard Jungle (1955), where he played a thuggish student who menaces a teacher. The role led to an MGM contract, but he left within a year because he felt the studio was typecasting him in tough-guy parts. He went on to appear in films such as King Creole (1958) and later The Bad News Bears (1976), although television became his most substantial arena. From 1962 to 1967 he starred as Sergeant Chip Saunders on ABC's Combat!, receiving an Emmy nomination for the role and directing seven episodes. Morrow also directed other series and co-wrote and directed the feature A Man Called Sledge.

Morrow took the role of coach Roy Turner in The Bad News Bears (1976) because of a scene where his character asks Walter Matthau why the kids do not like him, but the scene was cut from the final film.
