Biography

Kim Cattrall is a British and Canadian actress who was born in Liverpool and raised in Canada. She trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, signed a film deal with Otto Preminger, and made her debut in Rosebud (1975). She came to prominence in the 1980s with films including Porky's (1981), Police Academy (1984), Big Trouble in Little China (1986), and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991). Her best-known role is Samantha Jones on HBO's Sex and the City from 1998 to 2004, which earned her five Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations, winning Best Supporting Actress. She played Samantha again in the 2008 film Sex and the City and its 2010 sequel, and in 2023 she appeared on the revival And Just Like That... She also starred in Sensitive Skin from 2014 to 2016, appeared in The Ghost Writer (2010) and About My Father (2023), and worked on stage in Private Lives and Antony and Cleopatra.
