Chris Noth
Biography
Chris Noth is an American actor who studied at the Yale School of Drama and began his career on the stage before moving into television. Born in Madison, Wisconsin, he became known for playing Mike Logan, a New York police detective, on Law & Order from 1990 to 1995 and later played that role again on Law & Order: Criminal Intent from 2005 to 2008. He played Big on Sex and the City from 1998 to 2004, returned to the part in the 2008 movie Sex and the City and its 2010 follow-up Sex and the City 2, and received Golden Globe nominations, one in 1999 for that show and another in 2010 for The Good Wife, on which he portrayed Peter Florrick from 2009 to 2016. His films include Cast Away (2000), The Perfect Man (2005), My One and Only (2009), Lovelace (2013) and Chronically Metropolitan (2016), and he made his Broadway debut in 2000 in The Best Man.

Early training
Noth was expelled from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre after a photo of him acting in a 1979 Manhattan Theatre Club play appeared in The New York Times, because the school barred students from working in the theater.
A role that slipped away
Noth was fired from Law & Order in 1995, largely because of creative friction with series creator Dick Wolf, after playing Detective Mike Logan since the show began airing in 1990.
Early training
Noth chose Yale School of Drama over Juilliard because its degree took three years, and he received a scholarship there.
First role
Noth made his Broadway debut in 2000 as Senator Joseph Cantwell in a revival of Gore Vidal's The Best Man at the Virginia Theatre.
