Plot summary
Chris and Sean meet by chance at a public library, where Sean stops an attack on her, and a quick courtship follows. Sean believes his bride is a retired travel agent. She has instead worked for a U.S. government department that handles dirty jobs, and her superior Tina gives the couple plane tickets to Madrid for their honeymoon. At the airport there Chris is pulled away from Sean by her colleague Alex Desbains, who asks for her help in dismantling a counterfeiting operation in the country. It is run by Lazos, a criminal trying to sell plates for flawless hundred-dollar bills, and Chris is thought to be the one agent able to get a meeting with him. She agrees, hiding the work from her husband. On the drive to their hotel, the couple is already being watched.

- Three weeks into filming the movie, leading man Paul Reiser ruptured an Achilles tendon and was sent back to New York for surgery; told he would have to be replaced, he understood. Shooting shut down for two weeks while Robert Hays was flown in to take over the role.
- Co-star Jonathan Banks tore a calf muscle while filming an action scene outside a cathedral and wore a cast for weeks. Between the two injuries, the shoot racked up $1 million in insurance payouts.
- The film's British stunt team was reluctant to do the bus jump, so it fell to French stuntman Alain Petit, who listed the leap as 110 meters long and 35 meters high and claimed it was a record for that kind of stunt.
- Scenes set in Washington, DC, including those with Judy Toll at the fake travel agency, were mostly shot in Spain, with only a few shots actually captured in the US capital.
