Biography

Dana Delany, an American actress, was born in New York City and grew up in Stamford, Connecticut. After small early roles, she broke through as Colleen McMurphy on the ABC drama China Beach, which ran from 1988 to 1991 and brought her two Primetime Emmy Awards plus two more Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations. She went on to appear in films such as Light Sleeper (1992), Tombstone (1993), Fly Away Home (1996), and Wide Awake (1998). She voiced Lois Lane in Superman: The Animated Series and later in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Later she played Katherine Mayfair on Desperate Housewives from 2007 to 2010, winning a Prism Award, then starred as Megan Hunt on Body of Proof from 2011 to 2013 and as Crystal Harris on Hand of God from 2014 to 2017.

A role that slipped away
Delany turned down the role of Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City in 1998, partly because of the negative audience reaction to her similar film Exit to Eden; the part went to Sarah Jessica Parker.
Big break
Delany lost her first audition for nurse Colleen McMurphy on China Beach because producers thought she was not pretty enough, then won the part at a later audition after cutting her long hair into a bob.

In 1993, Dana Delany made her voice acting debut as Andrea Beaumont in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, an animated feature film adapted from the TV show Batman: The Animated Series.
