Jeremy Northam
Biography
Jeremy Northam is an English actor who was born in Cambridge and trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He made his screen debut on television in American Playhouse, playing Mr. Benson in the episode Suspicion, and later appeared in ITV's Wish Me Luck and Piece of Cake. He replaced Ian Charleson and Daniel Day-Lewis as Hamlet in 1989 and won a Laurence Olivier Award in 1990 as Best Newcomer in a Play for The Voysey Inheritance. His films include The Net (1995), Carrington (1995), Emma (1996), Mimic (1997), The Winslow Boy (1999), An Ideal Husband (1999), Gosford Park (2001) and Enigma (2001). He also starred in Cypher (2002) and Creation (2009), and played Bertrand Russell in The Man Who Knew Infinity (2015). On television he portrayed Thomas More in The Tudors and Anthony Eden in The Crown, and he has recorded audiobooks and sang Ivor Novello songs for the Gosford Park soundtrack.
